Garden for a Grand Design

This project is the design of a new garden surrounding an ultra-modern new build house, garage and studio on a one acre site in Suffolk, previously a commercial plant nursery. The client chose the site for its rural location, surrounded by farmland and areas of ancient woodland. The brief was to keep a strong connection between the garden and the wider landscape, while also complementing the minimalist modern style of the new buildings.
“It’s been tremendous fun working with Julianne. We wanted to create a very distinctive setting for our new build house and studio, but one that would also sit comfortably within the rural Suffolk landscape, which was our main reason for choosing the site.
Using modern materials, clean lines, and a bold planting scheme, Julianne’s design complements the ultra-modern design of the buildings and blends seamlessly with the wider landscape beyond.
Building our dream house has been a stressful process, but working with Julianne to realise our vision for the garden has meant that at least that part of the project has not been difficult – I can’t thank her enough.”
